If I was a better writer I'd have thought up something original, but instead I'll use the words of one Jill Scott. Hopefully this is the last I'll have to say on the matter.
Slowly, surely,
I walk away from
self-serving,
undeserving,
constantly hurting me love
deserting me love...
That old desperate and dazed love,
caught up in the maze of love,
the crazy craze of love,
thought it was good,
thought it was real,
thought it was,
but it was... not... love.

Quote of the Day, 1-31
On why the Lakers have been underperforming:
"Is it the playoffs yet?"
-Phil Jackson
I mean, we were all thinking it, but I didn't think he'd actually say it...

Word to the Wise
Don't argue with stupid people. Or mobs. But especially don't argue with a mob of stupid people.

Be Smart.
You can't go hunting down others for every infraction taken against you- it will weaken your defenses. Better to save your energy for when it counts. Rather than engage in small, tiring bouts, defeat your enemies with one swift blow.
silence
Just because I'm quieter than I used to be doesn't mean that I'm not thinking the same thoughts.

Quote of the Day
ESQUIRE: So how would you like people to think of you?
BALE: I don't care.
ESQUIRE: Really?
BALE: I don't care. Being misunderstood is not a bad thing as an actor. I know the truth.

On Finding the Right Girl.
Look at it this way. Even if you think 90 percent of all girls suck, and only 5 percent of those who don't suck are cute, if you're a pretty decent guy, you'll only need one anyway. So, yeah, most girls you date will probably suck.
But you only need one.
Numbers.
But you only need one.
Numbers.

The Golden Globes
The Golden Globes after party feels almost exactly like prom. Except there's way more Moet, and all your classmates just happen to be A-list stars, directors, and producers. Yeah.

Capricorn Part Deux
Well the first night with you
Was quite cool,
I bought you drinks
And I thought you ruled,
But as things so often go,
One night later and I'm thinking no.
Cus you left me hangin like a coat on a hook,
Feelin like I'm 20 pages into a terrible book.
So far too early it's time we parted ways,
I'll say the other nite was all just a daze.
Funny how things start so well,
And within hours its all gone hell.
Good luck with everything and all that jazz,
At least while it lasted we had somewhat of a blast.

Letter to Johnny Depp
I know where you;re at...
just to let you know,
I'm there,
well not really.
you're my favorite,
so... you deserve this.
the truth is,
we need you back.
see, we're with you,
but,
we need you to come
back to the fear and loathin,
and love.
we still feel you but you're not where you should be.
come back.
you'll now
what this means.
not in a gary busey kind of way.
i'll see you in waikiki.
just to let you know,
I'm there,
well not really.
you're my favorite,
so... you deserve this.
the truth is,
we need you back.
see, we're with you,
but,

Capricorn
Tonight I met you in a blaze of fire
you sent me so much higher
than I ever been before,
lighting my fire as it's never been,
lit.
So lit.
Without any other fire in the sky
I burned brighter than all
the other stars in the sky ...
Asleep in their own
shells of closed attention.
Peaceful.
No airs.
No question of where or how or why,
but only me,
and u.
Not a question of love,
or muse,
or amuse.
just me, and you.
don't care where it goes,
just as long as you're here for the ride.
Yes.
you sent me so much higher
than I ever been before,
lighting my fire as it's never been,
lit.
So lit.
Without any other fire in the sky
I burned brighter than all
the other stars in the sky ...

Perry Jackson 2011 Mission Statement
My name is Perry Jackson, and I’m an actor.
I promise I’m not a rapper, but I’ve always had a way with words.
So before you burn, delete, or shred this,
Let’s see if I can provide something you deserve.
I may be from LA, but my time on the East
Taught me much more about the nature of the Beast.
Very expensive schools lead to a few things,
A huge amount of debt, along with the nice sheepskin and pretty class rings.
So though my art school buddies may think I’m a sellout,
It’s Hollywood or bust ‘til all my bills past due post a zero amount.
Though Shakespeare and I will still remain Facebook friends,
I will definitely do a Disney movie to increase dividends.
I have a large frame that can play security, fireman, or cop,
But my intellect says a lawyer, doctor, or CEO at the top.
Whatever the role, I’ve got plenty of range,
Whether you see me on the internet, the screen, or the stage.
Casting directors say I remind them of a young Will Smith,
While managers see me as more of a Forest Whitaker,
If you ask me, I'd say, well it depends on the literature…
My name is Perry Jackson, sometimes confused with Percy,
So I won't rob any lightning, but I'll steal some thunder with no mercy.
It’s easy to tell that I'm dramatically trained, but you still might
see me working the room at Upright Citizens Brigade.
Whether you'd like to scream, laugh, or cry,
Its clear that in most genres, I'm your go-to-guy.
In any case, I don't mean to ramble; after all, this is just a preamble...
So let's meet for an interview, let's call it informational,
and though I have great presence, don't worry, I'm mostly non-confrontational.
Perhaps we'll hit it off, and see where this goes- either way,
I can assure you that I'm not "one of those".
And even if we if don't end up a match made in heaven,
I'll still say hello if I see you at the 7-eleven.

Exiting the Facebook Conversation Part 2
Well that took forever... I can't express how hard it is to get off of that damn site. Especially for some one who's job it is to sell himself. However, some thing had to give. I've been off of it for what seems like months now, but in actuality it's probably only been about a week or two, tops. I think there's something very addictive about posting a question or photos and seeing how your friends and colleagues respond to them.
But I gotta tell you...
I'm starting to think it fosters insecurities. I know for a fact it's making us less human- well, that and texting, of course. It's almost like half of the stuff I would post simply to see what kind of reaction I would get. Right or wrong, that's what ended up happening. I think the difference with this website is that I know very few people read it, so it has less of a soapbox quality to it. I can say more of what I really feel, to a certain extent, as long as it's not self-incriminating... but I digress. In any case, I'm hoping that without the intrinsic pressure that comes along with TheBook, I can produce some work that's actually worth experiencing. Maybe it will be a bit more pure, and a little less forced. I have noticed that I have been having more creative ideas since I stopped making status updates. Namely, not all the thoughts that come into my head are only in blurb form. They're also a little more complex. We'll see where that goes.
I suppose the most exciting thing about deactivating FB is that I did it for a good reason- to refocus on my career, and to create incentives for achieving results. For example, I can't reactivate until I have a theatrical agent. It's no easy feat. I'm not here to complain about it- but I must say it demands a lot of attention, dedication, time, and tenacity. Sometimes I feel like I'm selling auto insurance or something, or maybe that's just how the situation feels. You're selling something to a consumer that they don't think they need, until they do.
So there it is... actor/auto insurance salesman. There's your analogy for the day.
This is a hard business. I suggest that you don't go into it- at least that's what I'll my kids if I ever have 'em.
But hey, at least the sun is finally coming out again...
Rest in Peace, Pete Postlethwaite.
